Ugh, doing terrible this term at school. I always concentrate on my core classes and even though it’s an oh-so boring class on Windows Server 2003, I’m doing very well in that class. Getting an easy A even though all week I just bring in a notebook PC and screw around with another Linux geek, port-scanning the school’s network or finding interesting things left on web servers around the school. Even spent a class installing Ubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5 on a notebook for a friend in class.
Fridays we have quizzes and we have a couple Key Grade Assignments over the course, but nothing very intense. Windows is pretty easy to figure out, even if everything is the opposite of intuitive. For example: why is the drive with the files needed to boot the system called the System drive and the system files are on the Boot drive? Why are the command line utilities so unnecessarily complex (having a useless command line like DOS doesn’t help)? Why do you even have a GUI, taking up precious resources, on a server?
Besides that, I have a couple of general education classes, English II and Intro to Physical Science. I like English classes well enough but all we’re doing is writing a single research paper over the term. I’m just tired of writing nonsensical papers (ugh, which I really need to get done). Science class is just pointless. It’s like a 6th grade science class. We’ve discussed things like gravity and which direction the sun rises and sets. It’s the most boring class and the teacher keeps us there until the very last minute. Classes that are important to me and actually interesting routinely get out early (because we actually get stuff done). I’ve already forgotten at least once everything we’ve discussed in this class and have no intention of retaining it this time around. I just never use this stuff.
Anyway, back to putting stuff off.
