We have these folders in the hallway for the students. Usually junk, newsletters and notices. Some teachers hand back work in your folder. I used to check it every time I walked by (which is often, it’s almost always between my class and the smoking terrace), but have done so much less often now that I’m there every day and usually find nothing.
I was walking back from a smoke break, with plenty of time to spare, so I figured I’d clear it out (there’s also a sign saying they’ll be emptied by the end of the week). Luckily, I checked it just in time to RSVP to my invitation to the Honor’s Luncheon for students who have done well the previous term. I made it to the President’s List, which you need something like a 3.75 – 4.00 GPA. I’m not sure it’s per term or cumulative, though. I’ve done very well in all my core classes, with A’s and B’s in everything else, except for a D in math.
I’ve never gotten on the Dean’s/President’s List before. I think we had something like that in high school. I might have gotten or come close the first time, but for me high school was about doing as little as possible and still walking away with a degree.
I always think that I don’t really care, but I guess it’s a nice feeling, providing some motivation. I suppose I should savor it. Your average technologist is probably rarely recognized for his work. We only get noticed when something screws up.
Whatever, I’m gettin’ fed. :P
