Last week of the term, only one more class to finish. Last class on Thursday and then I start again next Wednesday. Not much of a break. Not really much of Spring, either. Went from freezing yesterday to seventy degrees (F) today and supposed to snow two days from now.

Anyway, glad to got a lot of those gen-eds out of the way. Wears on me having homework for 5 classes, most of them I don’t really care that much about. Next term I have 12 hours during the week of UNIX Operating Systems, then Saturday I’ll be there all day taking Database Applications (MS Access) and College Algebra II.

Not good at updates or follow-ups.

Quake IV is awesome. The Linux installer works great, but it doesn’t give you the ol’ “Insert Disc [2, 3, 4]” to copy all the game files. So you run the installer, but then you have to manually copy all the game files to your HDD. Not a huge pain in the ass, but very unnecessary. Especially since the installer is already installing files to the place you’ve already designated.

The game is fun. A pretty standard shooter, but done very well. Guns are very satisfying to fire. Escort quests should be taboo in all video games, in all genres. Graphics look amazing, builds on the Doom 3 engine. The environments are more wide open and much more lit. The enemies look and move great, but you’ll only get a quick look as all of them will rush towards you to bite you or smash you or attach you to the walls using the blades they call arms.

The game ran fine on my system, but the settings were set to the recommended low quality. Still looked better than it would have looked on the Xbox. I set the quality to high just to check it out and it looked really fantastic. Played like slide-show, though.

Also picked up a few games for other systems. Bought Tomb Raider: Legend and Colin McRae Rally 3 for Xbox, and Lunar Knights for DS. TR:L looks fantastic and plays great. It’s like Prince of Persia with breasts and guns, in a good way. Love rally racing. Ice and dirt and hills. Game is fun, but this Finnbot grabs first place every time. Lunar Knights is fun, beautiful RPG. Haven’t played enough to really enjoy or describe, but I like it so far.
